Web 2.0 is in addition to “social network” probably one of the most frequently used buzzwords when it comes to the development of the Internet. But what is behind it? Is it really a second, better version of the Internet?

What exactly is Web 2.0?

If the answer to the question: “What is Web 2.0?” Searches, you get various answers. Here we approach the subject at the top of its origin. And then there was Dale Dougherty (O’Reilly) and Craig Cline (Live Media), have together organized a conference on Internet trends.

The proper name of “Web 2.0″ was quickly found and is now even as a brand – but only in the secured area Events -.

A real surge in popularity of the term then scored by Tim O’Reilly, highly personal, as he semptember in 2007 the article “What is Web 2.0″ written.

When trying to build consensus among the various definitions of Web 2.0 will find that you end up forced on the following points:

  • changes in network usage and active participation of the contents by the user
  • new technologies (RSS, APIs, AJAX, Ruby on Rails)
  • Increased use of video
  • simple publishing platforms (Blogs, Wikis)
  • a time period (2008 – ????)

We therefore do not need a new browser or new addresses for the “Web 2.0″. Basically, will ensure that only the changes it has undergone in recent years, the network described. “Web 2.0″ is above all a huge media hype rather than a real phenomenon. Most of the “achievements” of Web 2.0 has been around for many years. They were only improved and popular places in the mass market.
