Archos announces Internet Media Tablets
Archos announced with the Archos 5, 5G and 7 three new Internet Media Tablets of which allow only the playback of music and videos and the mobile Internet usage. The Archos 5G will be available only in December for 600 francs (370 euros) on the market targeting the richest people in the world.
The devices have mainly (more than the 4.8 or 7 inch wide touchscreen with resolution: 800 x 480 pixels and have a hard drive capacity of up to 320 GB, a fold-out stands, built-in speaker, microphone and Wi-Fi (802.11 b / g ). The Archos 5G additionally supports HSDPA, which is without a hot spot to access the Internet, while the other models; this can be upgraded via a USB modem.
In addition to the above-mentioned functions the three new units supports photos and also display PDF documents and comes preloaded with some games. As Internet browser Opera is used which supports flash and hence the flash files can be also played. The battery life is up to 12hours for audio play back and the video playback is up to 4 hours.
- The Archos 5 will be available from this year at a cost of about 380 francs (240 euros) for 60GB, 440 (270 euros) for 120GB and 500 (300 euros) for 250GB memory.
- The Archos 7 is available from this October and is 500 francs (300 euros) with 160GB and 600 (370 euros) with 320GB free.
